Braeval was founded in 1973 by Chivas Brothers as the Braes of Glenlivet; changing its name to Braeval in 1994 so as to avoid confusion with The Glenlivet distillery. The distillery has always served as a major source of the malt component in Chivas Regal blends. For this reason it is very rare to see it as a single malt, even in the hands of independent bottlers.

North Star have quickly become one of The Oak Barrel's favourite independent bottlers. Exceptional cask selections at very reasonable prices, they are exciting, fun whiskies - even when they're very serious - which are designed to be drunk and shared. Winner of Scottish Whisky Awards' Best Independent Bottler of the Year the last two years running.
