Laphroaig 10 Year Old is perhaps one of, if not the quintissential Islay malts. And as with any bottling, this is only amplified at cask strength. Matured fully in ex-Bourbon, what you get is a crystalisation of the distillery character, amped up to an incredible clarity over the standard 10YO. This bottling is the latest release, Batch 16, bottled in December 2022. Bottled at 58.5%.
Official Tasting Notes:
Nose: The nuanced aroma reveals whiffs of sweet cereals, fresh oak and pipe tobacco with touches of leather, nutmeg and vanilla.
Palate: Sweet and spicy with notes of vanilla, toffee and sea salt along with hints of cinnamon and pepper.
Finish: Long finish with lingering spice, oak tannins, iodine and sea salt.
Laphroaig is a classic Islay distillery. Founded in 1815, it is renowned for its signature character. Phenolic, and medicinal at younger age statements, before turning to a more earth & sherried elegance over the age of 20 years. One of our favourites.
