Boutique-y Sullivan's Cove 9-Year-Old Australian Brandy Batch 1

It would hardly be a fair to not include Sullivan's Cove in a proper look at Australian whisky, however, rather than opting for a Single Malt, TBWC chose to bottle something else the notoriously popular Tasmanian distillery exceeds at... Brandy! This spirit was distilled from a blend of Australian red wine grapes, rather than the more common white grape base seen in France. The result is a truly incredible, complex spirit, that rivals their award winning whisky!

Our deadly animal on the Sullivans Cove label is the Tiger snake, a large and highly venomous snake of southern Australia, including its coastal islands and Tasmania. I hope Heather sees it!"

Official Tasting Notes:

Nose: An incredibly rich, dense nose. Loads of aged brandy notes, spicy oak, wet earth, baking spices, and maple syrup. Lots of dried fruit, too. Spices; clove, liquorice, and a hint of black cherry pipe tobacco

Palate: Sharp spices, rich and sweet oak, toffee, and dark chocolate, light wood smoke char, and a really nice rancio. The finish is deep, and long lasting.

That Boutique-y Whisky Company, now 10 years old, have bottled spirits from most distilleries in Scotland and are increasingly expanding to include whiskies, rums, brandies and more from around the world. Their limited edition labels reference interesting elements (or in-jokes) about the distilleries they celebrate.  Boutique-y bottle their batches, which can be single cask or a number of casks, at the strength they deem the whisky is most enjoyable at.

Established in 1994 Sullivan’s Cove is one of the oldest ‘modern’ whisky distilleries in Tasmania, and Australia. Under the direction of Patrick Maguire since 1999, It has become arguably the best-known Australian whisky distillery globally having won Worlds Best Whisky and Worlds Bets Single Cask Whisky multiple times.
