Epic Brewing and Duncan's Brewing

Epic Brewing and Duncan's Brewing

Posted by Ian C on 4th Mar 2020

Citizens,

This week we highlight two Breweries from the land of the long white cloud.

Epic Brewing (Auckland)– One of the originals , opened in 2006. One of my favourite Breweries (I even have a Hop Zombie glow in the dark tee shirt, saves on electricity)

Relative new kid on the block, Duncan's Brewing is located on the Kapiti Coast, near Wellington.

Epic Wonderjoose Hazy IPA

YES Epic have finally decided to make a Hazy IPA.
Why has it taken so long?
As with anything Epic does, much research, thought and contemplation goes into making a new style of beer.
Research was extensive, with Luke visiting the US twice, visiting breweries, tasting beers and asking questions to perfect the best Hazy IPA
They nailed it.

Epic Love

Epic LOVE is back ! This time the recipe is a modified version of Armageddon and Love & Affection IPA with the Mosaic hops boosted up, and Centennial reduced. The bitterness of this years batch has also been reduced slightly for more drinkability.

Rate Beer: 95/100

Duncan's Yum Yum Yuzu Lager

A dry Japanese style Lager brewed with Yuzu to give a big refreshing citrus hit. Yuzu is a type of Japanese citrus that has similar flavours to lemon, grapefruit and lime.

 Duncan's Paw Paw Smoothie IPA

Packed with 100gm/L of pawpaw and mango, this hazy style IPA is smooth, fruity, thick and juicy. Sabro, Amarillo and Citra hops add to the tropical punch.

         Duncan's Beach Party Hazy IPA

A big, juicy, hazy, IPA. Brewed with mango, passion-fruit, pineapple, and a literal bucket load of Mosaic and Citra hops.

PS – I send out a weekly newsletter with the pick of the NEW BREWS for the week. If you would like to get this, please email blake@oakbarrel.com.au & include your Christian name
