Brasserie Dupont(Belgium)

Brasserie Dupont(Belgium)

Citizens,

The Brasserie Dupont is an old farm whose origins date back to 1759. In 1844, it became the Rimaux-Derrider farm-brewery, specializing in the production of honey beer and Season-type beer. This name comes from the fact that farm breweries produced this type of beer in winter to consume it on the fields in summer.

In 1920, Louis Dupont, agronomist, considered acquiring a farm in Canada. To dissuade him, his father Alfred Dupont bought him this farm-brewery. Louis Dupont then took up the basic recipe for the Saison, known today as Saison Dupont.

The distinctive Dupont house yeast strain has been the subject of much speculation and discussion. The complexity of flavors it generates has caused some to suggest that in fact a combination of multiple strains are used, and its good performance at high temperatures and signature spiciness have led some to conjecture that it was originally a red wine strain that has been adapted to beer fermentation.

SAISON DUPONT 750ML

Since 1844, this beer has been brewed in our farm-brewery, during the winter time. Then this beer became a second refermentation in the barrel.During the next summer, this very thirst-quenching beer was served to the “saisoniers” which were working on the fields.

Surely therefore, our Saison Dupont is considered as “the classic” among the Belgian season beers !
