Thomas H. Handy Sazerac Straight Rye Whiskey 2022 Release

A very limited straight rye whiskey which makes up part of Buffalo Trace's Antique Collection series.

Named after the bartender who first used rye whiskey in the Sazerac cocktail, the Thomas H. Handy 2022 release is offered at 130.9 proof or 65.45%.

This Fall 2022 release comes from Spring 2016 distillations of Minnesota rye, Kentucky corn, and North Dakota malted barley, which were aged for at least 6 years and 5 months.

Buffalo Trace tasting notes:

Nose: Floral notes, anise, marmalade, and meringue.

Palate: Baking spice with a burst of orange peel and subtle dark chocolate.

Finish: Long finish of cinnamon, praline and candied orange.

Distillation Notes:

Distillation: Double distilled; beer still and doubler.
Proof off still: 135 proof.
Barrel: New white oak; #4 char; charred for 55 seconds.

Barrel size: 53 liquid gallons; 66.25 original proof gallons.
