"A 1974 vintage distilled using a 100-year-old traditional alembic column still, and matured for 48 years in a single French oak cask from Gascony in Chateau Garreau’s underground wet cellar. Bottled at natural cask strength, displaying fruit notes of apricot, melon, and berries, followed by some baking spices with a long finish." -Old Master Spirits

As always, we are excited to show off the latest release from the guys at Old Master Spirits.  This time they have released a fantastic 48 Year Old Armagnac produced by Garreau. The history of this particular chateau goes back at least 300 years, but since 1919, it has been family owned and operated. The spirit from this release was produced in a still first built in 1919, which is still in operation today.

This single barrel release, distilled in 1974, came from a particularly good harvest of Baco & Ugni Blanc grapes, before being aged in the Chateau's wet cellar for 48 years.  Bottled at a cask strength of 51.2%, limited to 152 bottles.

Official Tasting Notes:

Nose: Floral and fruity. Apricots, cherries, and melons along with strawberry starburst candy.

Taste: Honeydew melon, cherries, dried fruits, and nuts.

Finish: Stewed fruits, nuts, and baking spices. Unbelievably long length.
