Mackmyra Moment Virvelvind Swedish Single Malt Whisky

The Moment Virvelvind is the 36th and final instalment in the "Moment Collection" from Swedish, Mackmyra distillery. The Moment Collection represents the very best that the distillery has to offer - this the 36th and final release, goes full circle; taking it's inspiration from the very first release in the series, the Moment Medvind. To pay homage to the Virvelvind's early predecessor, Master Blender, Angela D'Orazio, has used the same cask recipe, however, the whisky used has been aged considerably longer than the Medvind; with all of the barrels used harking from 2007 and 2010.

The release is a vatting of the following casks:

- 42% 1st Fill Bourbon, 200L, from 2007
- 32% 1st Fill Bourbon Rök, 200L, from 2010
- 13% New Svensk Ek, 100L, förlagrad whisky from 2010
- 13% 2nd Fill Oloroso, 200L, förlagrad whisky from 2010

Bottled at 46.8% abv.

Official Tasting Notes:

Nose:Sweet fruit in the shape of pears and red apples is balanced by distinct citrus, vanilla and muscovado sugar. All surrounded by a veil of smoke.

Palate: Soft oak tones, acidic and pomerans. Madagascar vanilla, fudge ripe pear complemented with a light volatile smoke of peat and juniper. 

Finish: Long aftertaste with tones of juniper and lime. Aromatic finish with tobacco leaves and oak.

Mackmyra is Sweden's first whisky distillery. It was conceived of by eight engineering school friends in 1998 and was established the next year. The distillery utilises Swedish ingredients, such as local peat and juniper branches in their pioneering, 'gravity distillery' to produce multi-award winning whiskies.
