Out of Stock

From the archives, a single cask 1973 42-year-old Glenglassaugh from Batch 3 of the distillery's Rare Cask Releases. Cask #5638 was distilled in 1973 and matured for 42 years in an ex-Bourbon barrel that was hand-selected by then master distiller, Billy Walker. Bottled in 2016 at a natural cask strength of 40.6% abv - one of 238 bottles.

Official Tasting Notes:

Nose: Roasted orchard fruits, rich vanilla pods, gentle cinnamon and stem ginger.

Palate: Poached yellow pears, mellow five spice, hints of hazelnut and a dry cedar box background.

Currently under the control of the Brown Forman group, it's an incredibly exciting time for Glenglassaugh. The distillery was mothballed from 1986-2008, and it has since passed hands to the Benriach group, which was later acquired by Brown Forman. Under this new stewardship it's receiving the love it deserves, as it quietly produces some of the best whisky in the Highlands (in our opinion).
