“This 2017 Stevens Semillon is the third in a trio of 2017s before me, and to say that the best was saved until last is contentious: they’re all good. But this is mouthfilling and enveloping; the fruit billows around the middle palate and streams out through the long finish. It is savory and rich and layered with sandalwood, wood shavings (no oak here—just a comment on the fresh smell of shaved/sanded timber), fresh ocean air, green apples, lemongrass and crushed shell. The wine is completely diherent from the others, and it’s a thrill. 95pts.”
