“From a steep eastern-facing site with darker, richer soils, dating back to the 1950s. Matured in newer 2700L casks for 14 months. Ethereal and nudging mid weight at best. Sappy and beautifully textured, without a skerrick of overt fruit sweetness emerging from polished tannic rails, chamois of texture. The oak, adding further restraint, is impeccably appointed. A wine of a pinot-like grace and lightness of being. Floral. Cherry. Rosewater. Sweet earth. A classic Hunter luncheon Burgundy, as this style was once called. Rightly so. Gorgeous wine.”

“Blackberry, violet, pretty and perfumed, but with a modest earthy bass, slight unripe strawberry acidity, especially on the finish, but flesh around it, and good length with a bit of tomato acidity. Length is good, mind you, Many good things, but perhaps a little too sappy? See how you go.”
