“The Tossers is the second release in the new collaborative Band Series. This whiskey at 48.9% was aged in ex bourbon casks and finished in ex PX casks that were further seasoned with Irish stout and Irish red ale. This single pot still whiskey is a great example of complexity that is perfectly balanced. The palate bursts with red fruits, vanilla custard and spices. the texture is very creamy with a tingle of spice from the unmalted barley that is a pleasure. this whiskey then just keeps giving with a long lasting finish. guaranteed to please.“

Transportation Whiskey is a new distilling entity in Tasmania, operated by John Halton. With a dedication to traditional Irish style Whiskey unlike anything seen so far in Australia, this triple distilled whiskey is composed of a 60% malted barley/30% unmalted barley/10% oats mash bill, just like you would find in Ireland. This whisky is aged in full sized barrels, until the spirit is ready to be vatted, often with a bourbon cask base, and some portions of spirit finished in Fortified, or other specialty casks.
The texture this gives is unlike anything else found in Australia at the moment, and is reminiscent of the classic Midleton style, think Redbreast…Â We look forward to seeing more from Transportation in the near future, especially their more collaborative releases!
