Mad Dog Morgan is Corowa’s American oak ex-muscat cask release, a whisky with spice and citrus.
The expression is named after Dan ‘Mad Dog’ Morgan, a local bushranger who was one of the country’s most notorious until his death in 1865.
One of the richest Corowa releases to date, the sweetness of the cask is tempered by spice.
Official tasting notes:
Nose: Peppery, oak orange and honey.
Palate: Woody, spice, slightly smoky, oily and syrupy.
Finish: Long and sweet, hints of vanilla.
The Corowa Distilling Co, located on the New South Wales side of the Murray River, came out of the Druce family’s chocolate business in Junee. Having agreed to acquire an old flour mill from the council for the princely sum of $1, major renovations were untaken to turn the site into a functioning distillery.
The first whisky came of age in 2018 and was released in September that year.
