“The nose is reminiscent of walking along the edge of the woods where flowers, mint, and honeysuckle are growing at the base of pine trees. The palate is an oily caramel carrying notes of oak and a peppery finish.”
The Willett Distillery, sometimes known these days as Kentucky Bourbon Distillers, was founded in 1936 on the family farm by Thompson Willett. The distillery became widely regarded for its quality and throughout the century introduced brands like Johnny Drum, Noah’s Mill, Rowan’s Creek, Kentucky Vintage and Pure Kentucky (all 1990s). After a prolonged stint as an independent bottler, full distillery production recommenced in 2012. Unusually for a US distillery, Willett utilises pot stills rather than column.
