66% LP and 34% HD. These are the ratios of 1998 Long pond & 2014 Hampden rums, technically making this spirit barely 9 Years old. Hampden shines at this age statement, and yet the 25 Year Old Long Pond is not at all overpowered, instead mingling perfectly with the other Jamaican spirit for wonderful mixtures of overripe bananas, high ester funk & green spices.
Hampden Estate was founded in 1753 in the north west of Jamaica (Trelawny Parish). This is the first time that rum has been released under the distillery’s name. The distillery is renowned for rich, funky rums with high ester counts helped along by lengthy fermentations with wild yeast, no added colour or sugar and exclusively pot still distillation.
