From Boutique-y
“We’re really excited about this Glen Grant, as we’ve not seen a lot of it available on the market. Laid down in October 1991 and matured in a single refill hoagie. Light and apple fresh is the character which defines Glen Grant and this desire for delicacy has been present ever since ‘The Major’ took charge in the late 19th century”

Official Tasting Notes:

Nose: Subtle citrus notes; candied orange peel. Dried fruit; apricots and figs, alongside tinned peaches in syrup. Pronounced vanilla later with a backdrop of well-integrated oak

Palate: A luxurious and creamy mouthfeel, a result of the extended maturation. Butterscotch sweetness, tropical fruits; tinned pineapple and mango. Gentle spices,, intertwined with well-defined oak notes. Classy!

That Boutique-y Whisky Company, now 10 years old, have bottled spirits from most distilleries in Scotland and are increasingly expanding to include whiskies, rums, brandies and more from around the world. Their limited edition labels reference interesting elements (or in-jokes) about the distilleries they celebrate.  Boutique-y bottle their batches, which can be single cask or a number of casks, at the strength they deem the whisky is most enjoyable at.

Founded in 1840 the myth of Glen Grant is largely centred around “The Major” John Grant (son of founder also named John) who took charge in 1872. A swashbuckling man who is believed to have owned the first motor car in the Scottish highlands, he pushed to create a light, fruity style to differentiate from other whisky.  A proud brand that was actually available in Australia in the late 19th century, it’s popularity in Italy saw Campari buy the brand in 2006
