From Boutique-y
“We’ve made a World Whisky Blend, we’ve made an ‘Out of this World Whisky Blend’, an ‘It’s a Small World Whisky Blend’, so why not have an ‘End of the World Whisky Blend’, which is what we have right here… oh, and in 70cl/700ml!!!
What’s in the blend? Do you ask that every time to grab a JW Black? No, we thought not… Like all Boutique-y, no e150/spirit caramel here… just feast your eyes on that colour! All natural, so you can be sure there is a good deal of age, wine and sherry cask influence in this, from distillate styles all over planet Earth.
We drew inspiration (despair) from Hieronymus Bosch/John Martin/Benjamin West but in full Emily Chappell style, inspired by her recent visit to a Grayson Perry exhibition in Edinburgh. It’s the “Renaissance-meets-Sgt. Pepper-in-Glasgow” sort of
effect… Good luck finding all three, there are no guarantees that every shipped case will be getting the whole scene. We weren’t gonna make it easy, now were we? Happy hunting”
Official Tasting Notes:
Nose: This comes across as rich, dark, and very decadent. Dark fruit flavours; raisins, figs, dates, and prunes. Oily Brazil nuts, and lots of dark chocolate. Naughty!
Palate: A full bodied mouthfeel with a complexlayered profile. A harmonious blend of
sweet, fruity, nutty, and spicy elements. Lots of silky rich dark chocolate, Medjool dates, and a little clove spice.
That Boutique-y Whisky Company, now 10 years old, have bottled spirits from most distilleries in Scotland and are increasingly expanding to include whiskies, rums, brandies and more from around the world. Their limited edition labels reference interesting elements (or in-jokes) about the distilleries they celebrate. Boutique-y bottle their batches, which can be single cask or a number of casks, at the strength they deem the whisky is most enjoyable at.
