From Boutique-y…
“This single ex-sherry puncheon was distilled in August 1996. We’ve bottled this at 47.8% abv and expect around 735 bottles. Now widely referred to as Lochranza (1995) as the Isle of Arran Distillers now operates two sites on the island (Lagg, 2019), Arran single malt is made on the largest island in the Firth of Clyde and was the first legal distillery on Arran since 1837.”
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Fresh, and complex. With notes of pain au raisin, raisin cake dough, panettone, honeysuckle blossom, creamy vanilla custard. Delightful
Palate: Just perfect. Creamy and beautifully balanced. Barley, raisins, more pain au raisin too. The finish is long, citrusy and herbal. Magnificent!
That Boutique-y Whisky Company, now 10 years old, have bottled spirits from most distilleries in Scotland and are increasingly expanding to include whiskies, rums, brandies and more from around the world. Their limited edition labels reference interesting elements (or in-jokes) about the distilleries they celebrate. Boutique-y bottle their batches, which can be single cask or a number of casks, at the strength they deem the whisky is most enjoyable at.
The Arran distillery, on the northern end of the Isle Of Arran, began production in 1995 and is held as a success story of “modern” distilleries. They’ve a range of age statement, cask finishes and limited editions.
