“Marsanne is one of the principal white varieties grown in the Rhône Valley in France. It is not common in Australia, but there are significant plantings around Nagambie, where it thrives.
Marsanne makes a medium bodied lightly aromatic wine. We get the best results from our Biodynamic Marsanne by picking while the sugar levels in the grapes are still relatively low, and for a wine with just 12% alcohol, this Marsanne shows an impressive degree of flavour intensity and complexity.
From a crisp beginning, there are intense flavours including honeysuckle notes characteristic of the marsanne fruit. There is plenty of mouth feel and texture, and a long lingering finish.
Fermented in tank, the wine was kept for a year on yeast lees before being gravity bottled under Diam corks, with just a touch of sulphur to help keep it fresh during the many years over which we would expect it to further develop.”
