As more and more countries around the world start to claim the spotlight for New World Whisky, its good to look at some of the veteran distilleries who have been producing Single Malt on the frontiers for a while now! Amrut began producing Single Malt Whisky in 2004, making this their 20th year of Whisky production!
Amrut are the pioneers of Indian single malt whisky being the first to be made in India. Amrut or amrita is a Sanskrit word which can be translated as “nectar of the gods”, “nectar of life”, or “drink of the gods”. The distillery sources its barley from the Himalayas and ages the whisky at an altitude of over 3,000 feet above sea level in Bangalore. In this climate, the angels take way more than their share as up to 15% ABV of the whisky is lost per year. The resulting spirit has netted Amrut with hundreds of awards around the globe.
This will be a fantastic night to explore the all that makes Amrut special, from their entry point single malts, to their limited and independent bottlings!
