The first single malt whisky from new Japanese distillery Kanosuke.
Kanosuke was founded in 2017 by Komasa Jozo, a large shochu producer in the Kagoshima prefecture. Following progress report spirit releases, this was released in 2021 from whisky distilled in 2017 and 2018.
Distilled from unpeated malt this has been matured in a mixture of re-charred American white oak barrels and ex-Mellowed Kozuru barrels, a barrel-aged sochu developed by the company in the late ’50s and one of their flagship products.
Bottled at “cask strength” 58% and non-chll filtered.Â
Various early reports of this whisky paint it as a soft and fruity whisky, expect orchard fruits, sweet oak and back-end spice.
