A deeper wine all around yet for all the richness outlined below, again, one of the striking features is the refreshing elegance of the wine (seemingly no heavier than the other Madeira styles even though it is obviously sweeter. Again the note below reflects our own experiences of the wine. This could go with the dishes outlined in the Bual note above but could also take on richer desserts like plum pudding. Or it is great simply on its own at the end of a meal to lift the spirits and refresh the palate!
Wine Spectator: 91 points excellent “Full, rich and powerful, yet with definition that comes from the sharp acidity. The flavors are coffee, caramel, orange peel and vanilla. Long, satisfying finish.“
