Glen Keith 1993 24-Year-Old Antique Lions Of Whisky Savannah

Description

A 24-year-old from the Glen Keith distillery, bottled by Antique Lions Of Whisky – a series which is gorgeous is both appearance and flavour.

This was distilled in 1993 at the cult Speyside distillery and matured in an ex-bourbon cask. Bottled in 2017, there are just 297 bottles worldwide.

Rarely seen as a single malt due to the demand from blenders and a lack of stock, Glen Keith is renowned for layered, complex, floral drams. Built in 1957 by Chivas Brothers (then under the ownership of Seagrams), Glen Keith was a chief ingredient across their stable of blends. Deemed surplus to requirements in 1999 the distillery was mothballed, only for production to resume by Chivas (now under the control of Pernod Ricard) in 2013.

As a result, the Glen Keith we get to taste today is either very young or, as in this case, quite old.

A very special release of whisky that created quite a stir when they were first released in Europe in 2017, the ‘Savannah’ series is the third release from Antique Lions Of Whisky. The indie bottler was formed by Jens Drewitz of Germany’s Sansibar alongside Italian whisky merchants Max Righi (Silver Seal) and Diego Sandrin (Whisky Antique).

This release is a homage to the Moon Import bottlings prominent in Europe in the ‘90s and ‘00s. Often beautifully stylised, this homage series has some of the best packaging we’ve ever seen.

The whiskies have been selected to have an ‘old world European’ style, so expect them to be soft, elegant and fruity with fantastic poise.

Having secured and presented the Birds series in 2017 and the Butterfly series in 2018, we are proud to have again secured a small allocation from the Savannah series.
