Foursquare’s Exceptional Cask Series represents the most unique and coveted rum from this celebrated distillery. Hand selected by Richard Seale himself, the 2011 release offers bombastic notes of caramelized fruit balanced by berry and tea tannin.
This cask strength, single blended rum (column and pot still rum from a single distillery) was aged for 12 years in a combination of first, second and third fill Ex-Bourbon American oak barrels. Bottled unfiltered, naturally coloured, with no sugar or additives at 60% abv.
Tasting Notes:
Aromas of caramelized grapefruit, dark cocoa, butterscotch, and overripe pineapple lead to a big and expressive palate of tropical fruit, dried berries, black tea, and citrus peel with a lengthy and drying finish
Foursquare distillery, based on Barbados, is set on parish Saint Philip, a former sugarcane plantation that dates back to the 1720s. The distillery was established in 1920, closed in 1987 and was subsequently re-opened in 1995 (with rum production resuming in 1996) by the Seale family. Richard Seale is the 4th generation of the Seale family to be involved with the brand and is the current owner and master distiller. In keeping with the Barbados style, the rum released by Foursquare is a combination of column and pot distillation.
The distillery has recently come into global acclaim; winning Rum Producer of the Year at IWSC repeatedly in recent years (16′, 18′, 19′, 21′).
