The Commune of Buttons Pinot Noir is from two different parcels, from the Gloria vineyard MV6 vines and 0.5ha of 667 and Martini clones of Pinot Noir on a south-west facing aspect in thin red clay and schist soils. The parcels were fermented separately in 3000L open top jarrah fermenters with 60% whole bunches. About 15% of the grapes were direct pressed with the juice poured over the top of the ferments. Fermentation was for 14 days on skins before being pressed to tank. The elevage was for 11 months in a single 2500Ltronconique oak vat on fine lees. Bottling took place on the 5th February with 3300 produced.
This wine is earthy and dark fruited with forest floor complexity. Its frame is lighter from the addition of rose, but it still maintains good tannin structure.
