“These two wines are different from any sparkling I know, and are produced in a joint venture with Equipo Navazos from Jerez, mixing the sparkling wines of Penedes with the spirit of Sherry. The 2009 Colet-Navazos Reserva Extra Brut is a very dry sparkling wine produced with Chardonnay grapes aged in bottle for 42 months and the bottles are topped up with Manzanilla Pasada from Jerez once they are disgorged: a biological sparkling. It does have the amplified yeast notes of extended contact with lees and the veil of flor, coming through as very mineral with a chalk-like sensation and spiced apple flavors with salty, sea-like feeling in the aftertaste, which is long and persistent, with some nutty tones. This is a completely different sparkling, with a Sherry spirit. 92pts.”
