Barthélemy is produced from a small parcel called ‘Les Rocs’ that is composed of old vines and produced without addition of sulfur. It is matured in seasoned casks and barrels made of fine-grain oak of the finest provenance. The elevage period is for 24 months and it is ‘dynamised’ by stirring according to the lunar calendar. This is a simply amazing wine, full of the finesse, inflection and nuance that defines the finest wines yet also profound, deep and complex. This is every bit a ‘first growth’ in quality and in terms of expression, it is very much the full orchestra.
