Lowland distillery Caledonian – which sometimes appears under the guise of ‘Cally’ – was once the biggest whisky distillery in Scotland. The distillery housed a coffey still as well as pot stills and having been built in 1855 was closed in 1988 during a consolidation of the Scotch whisky industry. The building is now flats.
