A single barrel rye from Whistle Pig, selected by the team at Whiskey Hunt Australia.
Even though this release falls under the '10-Year-Old' label, it was actually distilled 28 February 2003 and bottled 19 November 2020 - so it's 17 years and eight months old.
Bottled at barrel strength 54.1%, there were 132 bottles in total for this release, dubbed "Head Honcho". Distilled from 94% rye and 6% malted barley.
From Whiskey Hunt Australia, "The barrel selection started out as all covid forced remote barrel picks, five x samples sent across the world with no info given other than the barrel # & proof of each whiskey we had to choose from.
"Usually there tends to be a bit of discussion around which sample is best, but this time it was unanimous barrel #19660 was the clear standout. It wasn't until months later we learned we had actually picked an almost 18 year old whiskey!"
