Worthy Park Estate is situated in the Lluidas Vale, Jamaica surrounded by verdant land and mountains. Rum production dates back to 1741, before any other recorded distillery on the island. However, the new state-of-the-art distillery was built in 2005. Their rums are made 100% from molasses from their adjoining sugar factory using 3 distinct yeast strains, including a strain cultivated from their own sugar plantation. They utilise the copper pot still, double retort distillation method traditional to Jamaican rum, which results in a heavier rum style full of esters and congeners.
The Whisky Age is a Taiwanese independent bottler, which was founded, in a nascent form, in 2014 by Rex Weng. Initially the group sold whisky gelato, however, the company has evolved since then to become a thriving (albeit small) independent bottler. In 2018 they began bottling whisky under the label The Whisky Blues and in 2021 they began releasing whisky under the self-named label, The Whisky Age. These whiskies are brought into Australia by the team behind one of The Oak Barrel's favourite Melbourne bars, The Elysian Whisky Bar.
