An 11-year-old single cask from Highland distillery, Glenturret, bottled by Whisky Cellar.

As this is a peated Glenturret it is bottled under the name "Ruadh Maor". It was matured in a single refill ex-Sherry butt: distilled February 2010 and bottled August 2021.

Cask #79 yielded 719 bottles at a natural cask strength of 55.3% abv.

Expect notes of smoked meats, liniment oil, cracked black pepper, tinned yellow fruits, syrup and earthy undertones.

One of Scotland's smallest and oldest distilleries, it was founded in 1775 and has a claim to be one of the country's oldest working distilleries. Once the home of the Famous Grouse blend, the distillery has begun to emerge as a single malt concern. Long fermentation (120 hours) and a wash still stirred by hand (one of the few in Scotland to do this) Glenturret whiskies are full-bodied but malt-forward, certainly an 'old school' style.

While home to the 'Famous Grouse Experience' the distillery began small runs of heavily peated spirit, called Ruadh Maor, to create the Black Grouse.

The Whisky Cellar was founded by Keith Bonnington, a Keeper Of The Quaich, and is based out of Edinburgh. Before branching out on his own, Bonnington spend almost two decades in the Scotch industry with 11 years at Edrington working with Macallan, Highland Park and Glenrothes.
