Foursquare distillery, based on Barbados, is based on a former sugarcane plantation that dates back to the 1720s. The distillery was established in 1920, closed in 1987 and was subsequently re-opened in 1995 (with rum production resuming in 1996) by the Seale family. In keeping with the Barbados style, all the rum produced at Foursquare is a combination of column and pot distillation.
The Whisky Age is a Taiwanese independent bottler, which was founded, in a nascent form, in 2014 by Rex Weng. Initially the group sold whisky gelato, however, the company has evolved since then to become a thriving (albeit small) independent bottler. In 2018 they began bottling whisky under the label The Whisky Blues and in 2021 they began releasing whisky under the self-named label, The Whisky Age. These whiskies are brought into Australia by the team behind one of The Oak Barrel's favourite Melbourne bars, The Elysian Whisky Bar.
