Based out of Portland, Oregon, Westward utilise the climate and farms of the Northwest in their whiskey production, which is also evident in this Two Malts. It is distilled from two row malted barley and soft winter white wheat, the latter grown in the Pacific Northwest for American pale and hefeweizen beers.
Wheat is also used in a number of bourbon whiskeys to soften the texture and add fruit layers. Indeed, some of the country's most in-demand whiskies are wheated bourbons (Pappy, Weller).
Barrel 355 has been chosen by Head Distiller Miles Munroe exclusively for the "Aussie" market. Bottled at 90 proof (45%) in 750ml hand-numbered bottles, there are 120 bottles in the country.
It was distilled from 70 percent malted barley and 30 percent winter wheat in May 2016 and aged in white oak for four years and five months.
