A tropical, fruity 13-year-old Tormore matured in ex-bourbon casks and released by independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail.
Built in 1958, Tormore is a ‘modern’ distillery by Scotch whisky standards. Owned by Chivas Brothers/Pernod Ricard, the vast majority of its output is used for blends but the few single malts we get access to are highly rewarding.
A remarkable looking distillery, the spirit is fruity and clean – unpeated, traditional pot still shapes and a clean wash.
Nose: Fruity and lively: abundant tropical fruit notes of pineapple, grapefruit, coconut, and freshly squeezed lime weave with hints of freshly cut grass and toasted malt.
Taste: Creamy, the sweetness of the vanilla, velvety milk chocolate, and baked apple are perfectly balanced by zesty citrus peel. Undertones of plump apricot and juicy mango develop.
Finish: Delightfully delicate with gentle lingering herbal tones finishing with nuances of charred oak.
This expression is part of Gordon & MacPhail’s Discovery series, which showcases classic whisky styles under the sherry cask, bourbon cask and smoky banners. Gordon & MacPhail is one of Scotland’s oldest and most respected independent bottlers and have one of the broadest and deepest collections of maturing Scotch whisky.
