A very special brandy collaboration between Tasmania's famous Sullivans Cove distillery and one of Sydney's best bars, Ramblin Rascals.
Dubbed 'Purple Rain', this is a vatting of four casks - TDB0010, TDB0016, TDB0021 and TDB0039. Bottled at 53.1% there are 571 bottles in the release.
A ten-year-old expression, the youngest brandy in the release was filled 4 September 2008 and this was decanted 15 September 2018.
From the collaborators:
"Once on a stormy Sydney eve, a man from Van Diemen's Land sidled up to the bar with a treasure: a few golden drops of rare Tasmanian brandy made by Sullivans Cove. Besotted with the rich liquid we cried, 'We must have it!' And so began our quest for the Purple Rain.
"We sauntered south to the apple isle and holed up with the Sullivans crew, swilling many fine brandies until we had blended a batch that befits the Ramblin' Rascals way:
"A burly, robust spirit long of finish and creamy of texture with a zing at the end that punches the taste buds with flavours of raisin and rich, oaky, spice. Sitting pretty at 53%, it warms the head and puts fire in the belly. Like the Prince himself, this drink is funky, so raise a chalice ans sip the Purple Rain."
Established in 1994 Sullivan’s Cove is one of the oldest ‘modern’ whisky distilleries in Tasmania, and Australia.
