A sherry cask finished single malt from Linkwood in Speyside, bottled by Signatory Vintage.
This was initially matured in bourbon hogsheads before a ten-month finish in a fresh sherry butt. Fresh it must have been, the whisky has a remarkable colour to it - as have all in this series of finishes.
Distilled 5 December 2006 and bottled 27 August 2020. Cask #1.
699 bottles at 58.1%.
One of The Oak Barrel's favourite distilleries, it's rare to see Linkwood with this amount of (visual) sherry influence. A bright and grassy whisky that reveals texture and complexity with age, once this one's gone it's gone.
This whisky is a sister cask of #9, which we saw in September 2020. This arrives January 2021.
