A refreshing, modern take on the classic Niigata 'Tanrei Karakuchi' style.
Quite a bit more fruit, in particular green apple, melon, and citrus notes, than one would otherwise expect, but still tightly structured, clean, and dry throughout, . Undisclosed rice, undiscosed yeast and with an SMV of +10, this is a great 'house style' sake. A new style for an old brewery. Part of the Sakelier's new releases for October 2023.

About the brewery (from the distributor): as the second oldest brewery in Niigata, Minenohakubai Shuzo (1624) brewing sake in the Echigo Plain for almost 400 years. From providing sake to the samurai of the Mineyama Domain in the 17th century, to being known as one of the 'Three Plums of the Echigo Region'. The Ryoko series is named after Edo period calligrapher and scholar Ryoko Maki, whose notable works are a common fixture on modern shogi pieces. Ryoko sake has a slighlty sweeter character overall, with a fruity aroma percect for sake beginners.
