Matured in ex-Oloroso sherry and American oak barrels, many consider this to be the defining single pot still whiskey under $200.
Richer and bolder (thanks to the 46% ABV) than its 12-year-old sibling, this is a very clever, complex whiskey.
It's got lots of weight with a mocha richness amongst the spice and deep fruits.
Irish pot still whiskies are a unique classification to the country whereby both malted and unmalted grains are added into the mash. The practise comes from the historical practise of avoiding high taxes placed on malted barley and results in rich, spicy, resinous whiskies.
Redbreast, distilled at the Midleton distillery, are often considered the pinnacle of this famous style.
