Description

“From younger vines within the Whisson Lake vineyard, planted in 1995. 15% whole bunch, 17% new oak. Quality kirsch leaps from the glass before bright red cherry and cherry pit. Some air allows a descension into more savoury and autumnal characters, red rose, damp autumn leaves, onion skin. There’s some pop to the palate, which sits high through the mouth. Rose, cherry, red plum skin, and raspberry are constricted into linearity by fine but assertive silty tannins and fresh acid to a clean, red-fruited close. Bright, vibrant, elegant and finessed. 93pts.”

Tom Kline, Wine Pilot

“15% whole bunch, 85% de-stemmed, 17% new French oak. 2022 was a very mild year with few gentle heat patches during summer, hence the wines from 2022 has more red fruits such as Satsuma plums, ripe cherries on the nose and plush palate, finish with fine crunchy tannin and fresh acidity. This Black Label is touch more generous than 2021. Drinking window: September 2024- 2034. 13.5% Alc. 3000 Bottles made.”
