“Dense, darker purple in colour. A complex, savoury nose showing darker fruits and forest floor characters. The palate is approachable and shows a good combination of riper fruits and elegant tannins. Softer acid profile than the other wines on release, rounder in its shape.
The Old Hut Vineyard was planted in 2002 using vine cuttings from the 4 Acres Vineyard, which is situated right next door. It features the same deep red clay soils over limestone, ideal for growing super-premium Hunter Valley Shiraz.
The grapes were harvested by machine during the early hours of February 25, when the fruit was at its coldest, before fermentation took place in stainless-steel tanks. After fermentation, the wine was matured in two older French oak casks (2700L) for 14 months.”
