From Boutique-y
“The Imperial distillery (closed in 2000) made way for Chivas Brothers’ contemporary yet historically sympathetic Dalmunach (2015) and we’ve bottled both for this series. Our first ever release from this new distillery is a 7 year old marriage of ex-Bourbon, and Oloroso octaves, and we’re expecting around 453 bottles..”
Official Tasting Notes:
Nose: Fruity, and malty, with a little citrus zest. WIndfall overripe apples, soft plums, sweet malt, and honey, with a generous pinch of lime zest and a little pepper too.
Palate: Vibrant and zesty. There’s some dried fruit notes; apricot, papaya, and coconut, alongside creamy vanilla and zesty citrus. Some light chilli spices in the short finish
That Boutique-y Whisky Company, now 10 years old, have bottled spirits from most distilleries in Scotland and are increasingly expanding to include whiskies, rums, brandies and more from around the world. Their limited edition labels reference interesting elements (or in-jokes) about the distilleries they celebrate. Boutique-y bottle their batches, which can be single cask or a number of casks, at the strength they deem the whisky is most enjoyable at.
Named for the nearby pool in the River Spey, Dalmunach is one of Scotland’s newest and most contemporary distilleries. Built in 2014, the large yet environmentally sympathetic building occupies the former site of the Imperial Distillery which was
demolished in 2013.
The was overseen by former Chivas Brothers production director Douglas Cruickshank, who rather aptly began his career in whisky at the age of 15 at the Imperial Distillery
