Matured In: A Single Oloroso Sherry Butt
This single cask North British is a perfect balance of distillery character (North British having that pleasant vanilla biscuit, “grainy” flavour we all love), and the influence of a rather flavourful Sherry cask. The result is a dram that is dangerously drinkable, with lighter grain notes lifting up the hearty, rich flavours of sherry.
Oak Barrel Tasting Notes:
Nose: Tea Cake, Vanilla & Coconut essence, dried raisins & fruit roll ups.
Palate: Richer than the usual single grain, sherry influence to start which rolls into vanilla & then chocolate cherry.
Finish: Balanced and lingering, starts sweet and ends pleasantly dry

North British in the suburbs of Edinburgh was built in 1887 is one of Scotland’s biggest grain distilleries. It is currently part owned by Diageo and Edrington and it’s spirit goes into a plethora of blends.
