“This I believe is the 35th release of Shaw + Smith Sauvignon Blanc. The wine was sent with a note from Mathilda Hill-Smith which read: “We will never take for granted the way Australia has embraced this wine.” I tasted this straight after tasting the Thymiopoulos Vrana Petra and I tell you what, that was some kind of gear change.
There’s a good swing of flavour to this release. It’s quite estery and quite tropical, with citrus in support and modest but noticeable lemongrass characters. It’s clearly identifiable as SB, but it’s not in your face about it. It’s fresh, it has flavour, it’s pretty and it’s well balanced. 91pts.”
