“COLOUR: Medium-deep ruby red BOUQUET: small red berries, floral hints of rose, slight hints of spice, white pepper. TASTE: Fine body with pleasant freshness, light tannin, spicy finish. PAIRINGS: salame cotto, mortadella, white meat, eel.” Scarpa
“I came away pretty seriously impressed with the range. This pelaverga was grown on vines planted in 1970, though they were grafted over in 2019. This didn’t see any oak at all; it spent ten days on skins and was both fermented and matured in stainless steel, prior to bottling. This is light, bright, lifted and lovely. Roses crushed, earth and leather, with red berry and spice characters flitting throughout. Delicious wine. Pure and unsullied. The aroma of nuts, roasting, in autumn. Perfect for drinking. A lick of cola tannin too. 92pts.”
