“This spent 12 days on skins before being matured in stainless. It comes from five hectares of Barbera planted in 2005. It’s described by Scarpa as the wine that says “welcome to the brand”. Basic notes here from me but you get the gist.
It is indeed a nice welcome to Scarpa. Light morello cherry, tangerine acidity, juicy, super lovely, smidgen of grapey tannin, a modest dip into plum but it’s generally lighter than that. Acidic in a good way. Refreshing. Light but most enjoyable. 90pts.”
