‘One of the stand outs in this range, the 2015 Barbaresco Riserva Ovello shows the energy and tension that are so typical of this site, but with a slightly riper profile than is the norm. Then again, we are talking about 2015. Although perhaps not the most classic expression of Ovello, the Produttori’s 2015 is very nicely done. Best of all, it will drink well with just a few more years in bottle. This is an especially heady, exotic Ovello Barbaresco that needs to shed some baby fat, its considerable appeal today notwithstanding.’ – 95 points. Antonio Galloni, Vinous.Â
‘Gary Walsh: Sandy earthy stuff, spice box, strawberry and red cherry, very firm and grippy, almost like licking limestone and sand, plenty of chew, kind of tense as at now, but fine potential for the cellar. Raw almond grip on a red fruited and earthy finish. Energy here, to come. 95 points.
Mike Bennie: Very earthy and elemental, savoury through and through, bergamot tea and rose water, cherry juice and dried herbs. Palate and bouquet in harmonious agreement, a wave of flavour kept shy of medium weight but plundering the palate with grip and tension. Etna-like tannin rippling with pumice and crushed rock, sparkling minerality. An immense wine of pleasure, strictness and detail. 96 Points.’ – The Wine Front
