This cask strength Port Askaig was released as part of the brand’s 2023 relaunch. Aged in both first-fill bourbon barrels and refill American oak hogsheads, the spirit was selected from 60 casks from an undisclosed Islay distillery, right down the road.
Salty, smokey, fruit preserve on toast and fresh cracked pepper. This release is exactly what we want from a Port Askaig.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Bursts of zesty citrus and black pepper, evolving to toasted bread, marmalade, and smoke.
Taste: Salted caramel, fresh lime, and spices.
Finish: Lingering spice, smouldering ash, and toffee-like richness.
Port Askaig have selected exceptional casks of Islay single malt to create a range recognised as Islay classics. Each expression within the range is bottled in limited batches. While recognising that each bottling will vary, the aim is to achieve a consistency of quality and character over time. To ensure each whisky maintains its original flavour and character, the whiskies are not chill-filtered and no colouring is added
