Matured in five refill sherry butts, this unpeated single malt was distilled on Hogmanay in 1968 at Islay’s northernmost distillery.
This release is taken from sister casks to the very popular and oft-sought after ‘Auld Acquaintance’ Feis Ile bottling.
We have bottled it at cask strength after the angels took their generous share.
Distillation on Islay in the 1960s has become famed for producing magnificent spirit full of tropical fruit flavours, making whiskies like this an incredibly rare treat.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Even before you taste this, your senses are filled with full, thick, ripe fruit and heavy, sweet, sticky nectar. A touch of menthol gives a clue to the long ageing of this whisky.
Palate: Rich Navel oranges and fleshy mango sit on a thick and warming palate, with flavours reminiscent of green tea, mint leaves and tropical fruit. The flavours are incredibly well balanced with elegance and poise.
Finish: Clean and long with carefully balanced minerality.
