Please Note: Only a Single Bottle of the Old Master Tiffon was allocated to The Oak Barrel by our friends at Old Master. With only 24 bottles in the country, this incredible release was never going to last long… We look forward to continuing our relationship with Old Master as their home in Sydney!
The Origin
In the 1870s Founder Mederic Tiffon distilled his first Tiffon eau de vie in Jarnac, France. He founded Cognac Tiffon in 1875, close to other notable Cognac houses such as Bisquit and Courvoisier. He continued to perfect his craft and in 1919 his niece Edith Rousseau and her Norwegian Husband Sverre Braastad took over the family business known then as, Etablissements Tiffon.
Today Cognac Tiffon is still family owned and run by fourth generation, who continue to harvest grapes, distil cognac and care for the maturing stock from previous generations in the heart of Cognac.
Known globally as Trebbiano, Ugni Blanc is an Italian grape varietal that now constitutes approximately 98% of Cognac vineyards, prized for its high yield. It is renowned for its long aging potential and light, floral profile. The grapes used for this particular Cognac survived World War II and were harvested in late 1945.
