This premium-aged barely shochu commemorates the beginning of a new era of Japan’s official calendar, Reiwa. It began on 1 May 2019, the day on which Emperor Akihito’s elder son, Naruhito, ascended the throne as the 126th Emperor of Japan. Reiwa is interpreted as “beautiful harmony”
Nose: Brioche, Stewed apples, red grapes, caramel, oak barrels, wood shavings.
Palate: Rhubarb, nutmeg, stewed apples, Brazil Nuts, marzipan, coffee tannins, red grapes, lemon, and pepper. Water adds Manuka honey.
Finish: Marzipan, Brazil Nuts, nougat, pepper, oak tannins, some sweet spice then fades on vanilla, nougat, creamy nuts and mint.
